The inspiration for my photography is Ralph Waldo Emerson's poem “Hamatreya"

and its famous line “Earth laughs in flowers”.

​

To me, flowers are happy beings with spirit and soul. Gardens, meadows and woods are universes where living things are all connected and participating in a great dance.

My photography is not a documentary process. Rather, with my camera I attempt to capture the colorful and exuberant spirit of the natural world - the dance and the beautiful abundance of nature.

I am an Iowa native and farm girl, and currently live in Des Moines, surrounded by flowers.

​

I have had my work exhibited at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, The Heritage Gallery and the Mainframe in Des Moines, Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Urbandale City Hall, and virtually at the South East Center of Photography.
